Lorain County Children Services

"Doing the right things right, the first time, on time, every time, one child at a time."

LCCS Board

Lorain County Children Services (LCCS) is a public child protection agency that operates under the direction of its governing Board whose members are appointed by the Lorain County Commissioners.  The authority and responsibility of the LCCS Board is more limited than that of the Board of a private corporation providing similar services. The LCCS Board sets policy for the agency and hires and supervises the Executive Director. The LCCS Board delegates further hiring and day-to-day operations to the Executive Director.

Because Lorain County Children Services is part of Ohio’s system, which is state-supervised and county-administered, the programs and services provided to the community are set forth not by the Board but by the laws of Ohio and the rules promulgated by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

LCCS Board meetings are formal meetings. They are governed by the laws of Ohio and the policies of the Board. Meetings are open to the public. LCCS Board meeting agendas are published the week prior to the scheduled Board meeting. Call LCCS at 329-5340 for a copy of the proposed agenda. You may also write to us at LCCS, 226 Middle Avenue, Elyria, OH 44035.

Your attendance and participation at the Board meeting is welcomed.

The Lorain County Children Services Board has set aside time during each Board meeting to hear your comments.

To address the Board, please:

  • Sign in at the table in the back of the meeting room. Anyone may sign this list and be able to address the Board.
  • Limit the length of your address to the Board to five minutes or less. The length of time a person can speak to the Board is set by policy.
  • Understand the Board is only able to listen to your remarks. The Board is not able to respond to questions or engage in discussion.
  • Please do not mention names of clients during the meeting.
  • The Board members may choose to request further discussion in a closed meeting if client matters need to be discussed.
